If someone does call me on my cell phone unscheduled and they are someone I am actively working with I will text them with my calendar link to throw some time on there, or if someone is reaching out via email asking for a call, I’ll email them with my calendar link. This does a number of things, it allows you to prepare for that chat, it allows you to focus on that person, and if you work in a high-stress environment and that person is calling with loaded-up emotions you are controlling the venue as it is difficult to start screaming at someone on a scheduled call as joining a meeting via a calendar changes the mindset.

I use Google’s scheduler personally, and even though I do also have a calendar with Outlook for other jobs I do I ensure to sync them up manually so they both look the same. Failure to do this will allow for double booking and you’ll miss out on time you may have set aside for yourself and you are now stuck working on someone else’s issue.

2. Set Clear Priorities: Determine your top priorities in various areas of your life, such as work, personal well-being, and creative pursuits.

3. Block Out Your Time: Allocate specific time slots for these priorities in your calendar. Be realistic about the time each activity requires, and don’t forget to include buffer times for transitions.

4. Limit Unscheduled Interruptions: Identify a small number of people who can contact you without scheduling, and make sure they respect the privilege.

5. Regularly Review and Adjust: Periodically review your calendar to ensure it aligns with your current priorities. Adjust as needed to accommodate changing circumstances.

6. Learn to Say No: Be willing to decline requests or invitations that conflict with your scheduled commitments. Saying no is essential for maintaining control over your time.
