Biography

Hugh Hardie first came to prominence at the start of 2014 when his track ‘Tearing Me Apart’ was used to celebrate Hospital Records’ landmark birthday on their ‘We Are 18’ compilation. The Cambridge based virtuoso was exclusively signed to the roster no less than a year later with the release of his EP ‘City Soul’, which set the precedent for his bright and uplifting liquid productions. The year 2017 saw Hugh truly put his stamp across the drum & bass world with his highly regarded full-length debut ‘Colourspace’. Hugh’s second studio album ‘Shadows & Silhouettes’ was released in 2019 to further critical acclaim from fans and peers alike, offering a refined follow up to the musical themes of his earlier releases. In 2020 Hugh released his ‘7 Tunes In 7 Days’ project, which was written during his period of lockdown isolation in April and wowed the drum & bass community. The producer set himself
a challenge to write a new track from scratch every day for a week, and the outcome was nothing short of spectacular. Hugh has issued three further EPs since: ‘Learning To Fly’, ’Dream In Green’ and ‘Inhale Exhale’, all demonstrating an ever-developing mastery of his craft. A string of recent remixes, including his delicate take on London Elektricity’s ‘Build a Better World’ and the dark flip of Mountain and Kojo’s ‘I’m Free’ have seen his popularity grow
within the scene. Hugh has garnered sustained support from some of drum & basses biggest players including DJ Marky, LTJ Bukem, High Contrast as well as Radio 1’s Annie Mac. Over the years Hugh has built a loyal fan following and earned himself top DJ spots across Europe’s biggest events including Glastonbury, Sun & Bass and plenty of global Hospitality events. Having announced his move from Hospital Records to Soulvent Records (now officially a part of Hospital’s brand) earlier this year, which he signalled with his latest single ‘Blush’ featuring Zara Kershaw, Hugh’s studio efforts are all geared towards his third studio album set for a 2023 release.
